Parihaka

Hello everyone welcome to my blog.

I have done a DLO on the sad topic of Parihaka. I wont go on to much but learning this topic told me a lot about my culture.

Here is my DLO

Thank you for reading my blog.

  1. Impressive effort Luke. I can see you took the subject matter seriously and thought deeply about some of the issues. I like your use of Te Whiti's words to help emphasise the situation as it was then. Did you think about the significance of raukura at the time? Good job!:-)

That's a very cool DLO. Like Mrs A I love the way you used Te Whiti's words. The story of Parihaka is one that 'makes my blood boil' (have you heard that phrase before? It means this makes me very angry). The Parihaka story reminds us that we must fight injustice wherever we see it.
What has happened in and about Parihaka in the past few years?
Great work - ka mau te wehi!!

  3. This is amazing work Luke. I have been learning about Parihaka myself, while helping in Year 7 and 8 classes. A very sad part of our countries past. Do you think that investigating this topic has made you want to learn more about NZ history?
